Previously called The Dome, Vodafone Arena acquired its name in 2007 and continues to be a popular choice for an increasing number of events hosted in this facility. The Arena was built in 2003 for the South Pacific Games and has hosted a number of community, national, regional, and international championships. Outside open spaces within Vodafone Arena perimetre fences – back of the Arena and side along Gavidi Road, can be used for food stalls, bouncy castles/supervised playing area for children, and rest zones for patrons. Depending on the magnitude of the event, the Vodafone Arena can be hired as a stand-alone venue or together with adjoining Hall A, Hall B, Events Lounge, and even its carpark. The porte-cochère (sheltered entranceway in front of the main Arena doors), can be used as a cocktail/bar area for events that require this element. Wedding planners hired by event organizers have been quite imaginative with this multi-purpose open space.
