The Fiji Sports Council, created by an Act of Parliament in 1978, is a government body responsible for promoting and developing amateur sports and recreation in Fiji. Its functions include fostering sport and recreation, providing facilities, promoting facility utilization, researching and sharing knowledge about sports and recreation developments, and advising its line Minister on related matters.
In accordance with the Fiji Sports Council ACT, the Board is appointed by the Minister for Youth and Sports, which consist of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and eight other Members. Unless the Act states otherwise, every member of the Council Board, including the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, shall hold office for a term of three years and shall be eligible for reappointment from time to time.
In this fast-changing world, the Fiji Sports Council stands as a beacon of excellence, constantly evolving to meet the ever-growing demands of sports and recreation. As a business, our primary objective is to provide the best facilities for all Fijians and fulfill the sporting needs of the Pacific region by offering state-of-the-art sporting infrastructure. With a robust business management approach, we have weathered the challenges brought by the post-COVID era, demonstrating resilience and adaptability. Our commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive environment has enabled us to continue serving athletes, enthusiasts, and communities, fostering a vibrant sporting culture that brings people together.
The Fiji Sports Council logo embodies the spirit of action, fun, and celebration in sports. It captures the energy and passion of supporters while paying homage to our remarkable athletes. The logo features five vibrant, multi-coloured streamers resembling waving flags, symbolizing the enthusiasm of fans. These streamers converge to form a star at the centre, representing the athletes themselves. Dynamic and ever-moving, these streamers celebrate the supporters, sports, participants, and competitors. The intentionally lowercase and understated typeface adds a modern and timeless touch, ensuring the logo remains legible and relevant for years to come. Altogether, the combination of the front, streamers, and star creates a visually captivating and enduring identity for the Fiji Sports Council.
The Fiji Sports Council has been entrusted by the Government with the responsibility of overseeing and managing over 20 sports and events facilities. Through the joint support of field staff and stakeholders, we continue to ensure these facilities remain in service to cater to a diverse range of sporting disciplines and events.
